Brent Bracht

CPA

Brent grew up a long time ago on a farm far, far away in Huntertown, Indiana, and graduated from Carroll High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He enjoyed high school and was on the swim team and in the band—where he tried to play the trumpet. Some of the teachers also had his father as a student.

Brent is a veteran of the United States Army and the Indiana National Guard, where he spent too much time as an infantryman. He was awarded an Expert Infantry’s Badge, Combat Infantry’s Badge, and Air Assault Badge, amongst many others. His claim to fame was reading Harry Potter five in a fox hole in Iraq.

Using the GI Bill, he studied too much (graduated with a 4.0 GPA) and earned a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University in 2006. He is a Lawson Scholar, which allowed him to study overseas—making his wife very proud and jealous.

His first official accounting job was with Ernst & Young, where he specialized in audit. He was involved in the audits of numerous businesses, from insurance companies to duck farms.

He passed the CPA exam and earned his CPA credentials in 2008.

He has worked at SBS since 2008 and became a full partner in 2011. He is very good with payroll, business/individual tax returns, and business consulting and is very humble. He likes working with QuickBooks and learns something new every day.

Katie (the very kind and beautiful) married him in 2000 and is a fantastic nurse—she puts up with a lot from Brent. His daughter is in high school and does very well in the band. Some of her teachers had him as a student, and they remember him—he doesn’t know if this is good or bad.

Fun Fact

Brent's dog Baylee prefers a bandana instead of a collar.
