Karena Sylvester, Senior Partner, CPA
Education
Karena earned a Bachelors Degree in International Business from Adrian College in 1990 and minored in French. She took twenty four additional hours of accounting at Hawaii Pacific University in 1992-1993. Karena earned her CPA license in Missouri in 1998; she currently has an active Indiana CPA license.
Experience
Karena spent four years in private accounting which included two years as the assistant controller of a construction consulting firm in Hawaii and two years as the accounts receivable manager at a manufactured parts distributor in Omaha, Nebraska. Karena next spent four and a half years in public accounting working as a Staff Accountant. In June of 2001 Karena started her own public accounting firm and has never looked back.

Mike Sylvester, Managing Partner, CPA/ABV
Education
Mike is a veteran of the United States Navy and graduated from Naval Electronics “A” School, Naval Nuclear Power School, and Naval Nuclear Plant Operations Prototype in 1991. Mike became a Journeyman Electrician in 1999. Mike received an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Industrial Maintenance from Ivy Tech in 2003. Mike earned a Bachelors Degree in Business with a specialty in Accounting from Indiana University in 2006. Mike is an IPFW Lawson Scholar and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, a national honorary for business.
Experience
Mike has fifteen years of industrial experience including six years as an electronics technician on a nuclear powered submarine, two years as a mechanical equipment operator in a civilian nuclear power plant, three years as a journeyman electrician in a multi-function steel mill, and four years as the maintenance manager of a manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and warehousing facility. Mike joined the firm full-time in August of 2004.

Brent A. Bracht, CPA
Education
Brent earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a specialty in Accounting from Indiana University in 2006. Brent is an IPFW Lawson Scholar and was awarded the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key for having the highest GPA in his graduating class.
Experience
Brent served in the United States Army and Indiana National Guard for 6 years which includes a year in the Republic of Korea and a year in Iraq. Brent spent two years as a staff auditor with Ernst & Young before joining SBS CPA Group Inc. Brent has worked on a wide variety of clients including big SEC Insurance companies, not-for profits, manufacturers, duck farms, beauty salons, realtors, auto shops and restaurants.

Brent is responsible for the firm’s Assurance Services, not-for profit clients and is the firm’s QuickBooks Pro-Advisor.
Brent is a member in good standing with both the AICPA and the Indiana CPA Society.
