Where’s My Refund?

We get asked “where’s my refund” all the time. Both the IRS and Indiana actually have pretty good turn-around times for processing tax refunds.  Most returns are processed within 21 days.

New this year the IRS is delaying returns with the earned income credit, the additional child tax credit, and the American Opportunity tax credit until mid-February in order to reduce identity theft and prevent fraud.  Tax returns with these credits will not receive their refunds until the end of February.

If you want to know when to expect your federal refund you can go to www.irs.gov and click the link “Where’s My Refund.”  You can also download the IRS2Go phone app to track the status of your refund.  To know when to expect your Indiana refund you can go to www.dor.in.gov and again, click the link “Check Your Refund.”

If you want your refund faster, elect to have your refunds direct deposited into your account. However, make sure you enter the information on your tax planner (even if you are using the same account as last year).  We will also ask you to initial by the account number when you pick up your taxes to ensure your money will be deposited to the correct place.
