Statement of Benefit Charges
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development is the agency charged with handling the Indiana unemployment system. Unemployment in Indiana has risen significantly and this has increased the number of employers that have past employees who are collecting unemployment benefits.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development tracks how much each business pays into the Indiana unemployment system and also tracks how much in unemployment benefits are paid to past employees of each company.
One of the statements the Indiana Department of Workforce Development sends business owners is a “statement of benefit charges (form 535).
If you have a past employee collecting Indiana unemployment benefits you will receive a statement each month telling you the amounts paid to prior employees, the name of each employee, and the date of each payment.
